Why attend.

An IFA Annual Convention is unlike any other event, with content designed for franchisors, franchisees and representatives of companies providing supporting services or products to franchised businesses. Whether you are a seasoned pro or new to franchising, there is something here for you. You'll find solutions to some of your most pressing business challenges; best practice tips and advice from peers and industry experts; and research and business data only IFA can deliver.

You'll also have access to outstanding educational content, first-in-class speakers and multiple professional networking opportunities to foster ideas, enhance your professional and personal growth and forge lasting business partnerships.

Our comprehensive Exhibit Hall will showcase nearly 200 companies offering tools and resources franchise professionals need for continued success.

Everyone stands to gain from the industry's premier networking and educational event, and the IFA staff and I look forward to welcoming you to Orlando in February, where we will deliver an outstanding and valuable program.

Dear Colleagues,

You need only look to the IFA Annual Convention programming to know what issues are front and center with today's franchise professionals. As we continue to struggle with a sluggish economic recovery and uncertainty in the regulatory arena, the IFA Convention is the perfect forum for proactively tackling the critical issues and finding solutions to prepare franchise professionals for future growth. Full details are in the following pages, but the program's core focus areas in 2012 will be:

* How to manage in difficult economic times and how to access the credit you need to grow.

* Health care reform and what it means to your business.

* Managing change and improving communication.

* Successes and failures and what we can learn from them.

* Using social media and other marketing ideas to increase brand recognition and boost sales.

* Technological changes and how to best leverage them for business success while protecting against risks.

* Changing consumer demographics and trends.

* Opportunities for veterans in franchising and IFA's expanded VetFran initiatives.

In addition, Opening General Session Keynote Speaker Bill O'Reilly's extensive media experience and unique perspectives will provide us with valuable insights on today's business climate and trends that will shape the future. Our Technology Summit on Sunday will offer in-depth explorations of social media tools, search engine optimization (SEO), mobile technology, local searches and lead generation, and will feature expertise from Google. Monday's Super Session will feature David Novak, Chairman and CEO of Yum! Brands, Inc., the world's largest restaurant company, who brings considerable insights on business expansion and cultivating successful leaders. Closing General Session Speaker Guy Kawasaki will share his high-tech industry, marketing and business management savvy to round out the program with tips on successful marketing with today's social media tools.

An exciting new highlight in store for 2012 is our inaugural "Franchising Gives Back" community service event, which will give you a chance to demonstrate the generosity and impact the franchise industry has on local communities. A voluntary day of teamwork and service in support of an Orlando charity will take place Friday, February 10, followed by an evening reception.

I congratulate the 2012 Convention Committee members for preparing the robust, relevant content of this year's annual convention that meets the specific needs of the franchise community today, while preparing us for tomorrow.

IFA members consistently describe the Annual Convention as a not-to-be-missed opportunity. Don't miss your chance: register today at, or use the form found at the back of this brochure.
