M.B. Abbasi - President, National Bank of Pakistan
A well-known banker in the country, took charge as Chief Executive and President of Muslim Commercial Bank Limited on 8th April 1991 at the time of privatization of the Bank. He is a Master of Business Administration and a fellow member of the Institute of Banker's in Pakistan. Established Karachi operation of Union Bank of the Middle East Ltd. (now Emirates Bank International Limited) and was appointed as its first General Manager (Pakistan). He served Emirates Bank International Limited for about 9 years and left in 1987. Mr. Lawai has the distinction of establishing another foreign bank in Pakistan, known as Faysal Islamic Bank of Bahrain, E.C. On privatization, took over management of Muslim Commercial Bank Limited, as its Chief Executive and President. Is the Chairman of Paramount Investments Limited and Vice Chairman of Institute of Bankers in Pakistan. Also holds the Directorship of Bankers Equity Limited, Investment Corporation of Pakistan, National Investment Trust, First Women Bank Ltd., Taj Modaraba Management Co. Ltd., Trust Securities & Brokerage Ltd. and Paramount Leasing Corporation. Is also the Member - Board of Governors of Indus Valley of Art and Architecture, Karachi, Karim Education Foundation, Lahore, Central Asia Management Programme and Baqai University of Health Sciences.

Mr. Humayun Murad is the Chief Executive of ORIX Leasing Pakistan Limited. He graduated from the Punjab University in 1968 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant from England and Wales in 1973. In U.K. he gained valuable experience with Arthur Young & Co., Chartered Accountants and subsequently was financial controller of a Canadian and Middle East Joint Venture Bank. He returned to Pakistan in 1984 and worked on the promotion of two industrial projects Frontier Ceramics Limited and National Fructose Co. In 1986 he joined ORIX Leasing Pakistan as Deputy Managing Director and in 1989 became Managing Director.

Born in Faisalabad, Punjab in 1935, Mr. Amjad Aziz Khan, assumed the charge of President and Managing Director of Bankers Equity Ltd. on 23rd January, 1994. He assumed additional charge of Managing Director, Pak-Libya Holding Co. (Pvt.) Ltd. on January 30, 1995. Graduated from State Bank Officers Training Scheme in 1960, he started his career as an Officer in United Bank in 1961. He is a professional banker with Commercial Banking experience spanning over 33 years. Before taking charge of Bankers Equity he was a SEVP in UBL looking after International and Overseas Operations, as well as Establishment Division of the Bank. Earlier, from 1978 to 1986, he served as General Manager of the United Bank's New York, USA and UK operations. He has also served as Chief Executive in NWFP and. later as Provincial Chief for the provinces of Punjab and Balochistan. He is also fellow and Associate of the Institute of Bankers in Pakistan. He has a rich background of executive training in one of the best business schools in USA, such as Chemical Bank Executive Seminar at Boston, USA with the faculty of Harvard Business School and School of Organisation and Management. Yale University, and in professional training programmes of USA is the leading American Banks besides American Institute of Bankers. He is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Orix Leasing Pakistan Ltd. and member of the Board of Directors of Several Institutions. Under his competent leadership, the performances of Bankers Equity improved phenomenally during the year 1993-94.
Amjad Aziz Khan - President/M.D., Bankers Equity Ltd., & Pak-Libya Holding Co. (Pvt.) Ltd.
Mr. S.A.Q. Haqqani, is the Chief Executive of First Professionals Modaraba. He is over 60 years of age having a degree of Bachelor of Commerce, Diplomed Associate of Institute of Bankers in Pakistan. Diploma in Investment Analysis, New York Institute of Finance New York, and a Fellow of the Institute of Bankers in Pakistan. He had also undergone extensive training in Investment Banking in the USA. He has been a commercial and investment Banker over 40 years. He started his banking career with Lloyds Bank and was Managing Director of Investment Corporation of Pakistan (ICP). He has been a director of Karachi Stock Exchange for 10 years and on the Board of Directors of more than 30 private and public sector blue-chip quoted companies including renowned multinational companies.

Mr. Taher G. Sachak has been appointed Managing Director of EFU Life Assurance Ltd. He hails from United Kingdom, was educated at Wellington one of the best public schools in England and then Oxford and Liverpool and appeared for British Civil Service. As young qualified civil servant he worked for five years but somehow suddenly took to life insurance. He commenced working as an ordinary Sales Consultant but within a short period of 16 years he rose to high position and specialised in Unit-Linked investment schemes, Pension, Critical illness etc. and worked with important companies life Hambro (Allied Dunbar), Trident (Laurentian) and CCL Financial Group plc. Mr. Sachak is new to Pakistan but has great admiration for the country created by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Within such a short period he has collected able and talented manpower and introduced a number of innovative plans. EFU Life does not aim at competing with State Life which deals with conventional life insurance but aims at offering life insurance plans marketed by progressive life insurance companies in United Kingdom and is also keen to introduce Critical Illness. He once again wants to built EFU Life into a modern company with highly trained and educated manpower.

Saifuddin N. Zoomkawala was born in Bombay in 1942. Having migrated to Pakistan after partition he received his education in Karachi. In 1967, he joined EFU as a trainee officer, He received extensive training in various branches of insurance at EFU. After training he served EFU in middle management and rose to become branch manager of one of EFU's biggest and most prestigious branch. When EFU entered the International field he was deputed to Credit & Commerce International Insurance Company of Dubai where he was General Manager till early 1988. On his return to parent company he was first appointed Dy. Managing Director and then took over as Managing Director from July, 1990. His modus operandi is to advise his clients about the risk management which often results in lowering the cost of Insurance to the client with far better coverage. This obviously means less premium to his organisation but he believes in square dealing and honest advice rather than premium seeking. Saifuddin Zoomkawala has travelled extensively.
