HRH Construction LLC has named Alan S. Cohen to the newly created position of vice president of business development.
Cohen's role is to focus on business strategies that match HRH with the needs of residential, commercial, and institutional organizations. He will direct sales programs, identify new clients for the firm's construction services, and strengthen existing relationships.
Cohen graduated with a bachelor's degree in business from C.W. Post College of Long Island University. He is a member of the Real Estate Board of New York and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He and his family live in Armonk, N.Y.
Sahn & Ward, LLC has announced that Daniel J. Baker has become associated with the law firm.
Baker was previously associated with other prominent Long Island law firms, where he focused on real estate tax certiorari, condemnation and real property valuation proceedings, and general real estate law. His experience also included public and private sector labor and employment law, civil litigation, and criminal defense.
Baker earned a B.A. from SUNY at Albany and a law degree from Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center at Touro College. He was admitted to practice in 1992.
Robert K. Futterman & Associates announced the promotions of Barry Fishbach and David Rosenberg to executive vice president and principal.
Rosenberg and Fishbach have been responsible for some of the most significant deals in the City's boroughs in recent history, including the $25.5 million sale of the former Caldor department store at Fordham Road in the Bronx and the $15 million sale of 60,000 SF of retail space on Fulton St. in Brooklyn. Together Fishbach and Rosenberg are the exclusive leasing agents for more than 250,000 SF of retail space and currently represent Loews Cineplex Entertainment for the sale of three movie theaters.
Prior to joining RKF in 1998 as managing directors, Rosenberg and Fishbach were brokers at Garrick-Aug Associates. Both are members of the International Council for Shopping Centers and the Real Estate Board of New York.
AKAM Associates, Inc. has appointed Susan Barber as its president of finance.
In her new position, Barber works closely with AKAM's executives and client boards to oversee all aspects of financial planning. She also directs AKAM's in-house accounting and finance department, supervises the preparation of operating and capital budgets for all AKAM properties, and acts as an investment consultant. Barber brings to her new position experience in residential real estate accounting, budgeting, and financial management. Prior to joining AKAM, she was an accountant with one of New York's largest accounting firms specializing in cooperative and condominium real estate.
Barber holds an M.B.A. in finance and marketing.
Cushman & Wakefield announced that brokerage professional Susan Kurland has been promoted to senior director.
Kurland has specialized in developing local, national, and international real estate projects for more than 15 years. She is responsible for advisory services and retail consulting for several national retailers. Kurland's major accounts include Benetton, Nokia, and Sports Club/LA.
Kurland won the 2000 Real Estate Board of New York's "Retail Deal of the Year Award," along with Mr. Mosler.
Kevin Aylward has recently joined NorCrown Bank as senior vice president, announced Joseph S. Paparatto, the bank's president. Aylward will oversee the generation and administration of construction loans.
Aylward is currently in charge of business development of new construction loans for single-family residential and commercial properties throughout New Jersey. His responsibilities include supervision of the loan process and ongoing interaction with borrowers. Previously, Aylward served as vice president of lending for Pulaski Savings Bank in Springfield, N.Y.
Aylward is a graduate of Montclair State University. A past grand knight of the Knights of Columbus, he sits on the board of the Housing Coalition of Central Jersey, a non-profit organization that secures affordable housing for low- and moderate-income families. Aylward currently resides in Woodbridge township with his wife and three children.
The Association of Real Estate Women presented Louise M. Matthews, director of corporate real estate for Colgate-Palmolive Company, with its 2000-01 Founders' Award at the organization's annual meeting.
The award is presented to AREW members who have consistently supported AREW's mission and programs through outstanding contributions of time, energy, and professional expertise.
Matthews served as AREW president in 1997-98 and presently serves on the presidents' council. At Colgate-Palmolive Company, she is responsible for developing and implementing plans for purchase and lease of real estate assets.
Antonio Lopez has joined Harvard Maintenance, Inc. as vice president of operations. In his new position, he is responsible for administrating and monitoring Harvard's day-to-day field operations and overseeing all of the company's budget analysis and projections. He also monitors all compliance issues on client contracts and assists in new business development.
Prior to joining Harvard, Lopez served as vice president of operations for One Source, Inc., where he was directly responsible for more than 100 service contracts in the New York metropolitan region.
Lopez is a Vietnam veteran and a member of the 173rd Airborne Society. He attended Queensboro Community College, where he studied business administration. Lopez resides in New Rochelle, N.Y. with his wife and daughter.
Syska & Hennessy has named Gaetano T. DiPietro and Marina Dishel, P.E. vice presidents in the New York office.
DiPietro has 40 years of experience as a project engineer in the design of sanitary systems. He joined Syska & Hennessy in 1972, and has worked on major projects for numerous government, institutional, commercial, healthcare, and educational facilities. DiPietro attended Bronx Community College in New York and New York University.
Dishel, P.E. has more than 25 years of experience. She joined Syska & Hennessy in 1981 and is a member of the firm's healthcare group. Dishel is a graduate of the Moscow College of Transportation Engineering in Russia. She is a licensed professional engineer in New York and Massachusetts.
David R. Zurheide has joined Continental Properties in the newly-created position of vice president of land acquisition. In his new position, Zurheide will be responsible for the identification and acquisition of a variety of development sites, as well as pursuit of government approvals.
Prior to joining Continental Properties, Zurheide served in a similar capacity with The Kalian Companies.
A resident of Middletown, Zurheide holds an M.A. in business administration from the Wharton School of Business and a B.A. in the same field from Georgian Court College.
Kenneth A. Himmel, president and CEO of The Palladium Company, announced that Kenneth P. Wong has joined the firm as a partner. Wong will oversee the company's projects in Dallas, Texas, and San Jose, Calif. and will direct the company's growth in the Western region.
Prior to joining The Palladium Company, Wong served as chairman and CEO of POP.com LLC.
Wong received a B.A. from the University of California at Berkley and an M.A. in architecture and city planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He is a member and past conference chairman of the Urban Land Institute and serves on advisory committees at both UC Berkeley and MIT.
Julien J. Studley, Inc. has named Michael D. Colacino to its board of directors.
Colacino, an executive managing director with Studley's Midtown office, has more than 20 years of experience in commercial real estate. He provides consulting, strategic planning, and specialized brokerage services to tenants nationwide. Colacino has served as a broker on AOL Time Warner's acquisition of Columbus Circle in Manhattan and is Studley's project manager on the development of the AOL Time Warner headquarters.
Colacino graduated from Harvard College and received a master's degree in real estate from New York University. He serves on the faculty of New York University and is a member of the Urban Land Institute.
Real estate veteran Donna Klein has joined full-service marketing and public relations firm Alexander Marketing, LLC in the capacity of partner and co-principal, announced Linda S. Alexander, founder and principal of the firm.
As the former executive director of the New York Association of Realty Managers for 16 years, and publisher and editor of its monthly newspaper for more than 18 years, Klein has extensive experience as a writer and media spokesperson.
During her tenure at NY ARM, she was instrumental in the growth of the membership and was responsible for the development and implementation of the annual industry trade show, myriad seminar series, and various social and business events.
