White-collar job vacancy rate up 15%.

THE level of professional job vacancies last month increased by 15% compared to April.

It was also revealed there was a 16% jump in white-collar workers seeking new roles in May and a 6% rise compared to the same time last year.

The figures by the Morgan McKinley Ireland Employment Monitor reflect an upswing after the Easter break and the continuing jobless fall.

A spokesman said: "While it's too early to say if this is a trend that will continue, if it does then it will support estimates that Ireland's unemployment rate could dip below 6% by the end of the year."
