THE Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales has produced a calendar for SMEs struggling to keep abreast of the ever-increasing demands of red tape.

The simple guide is designed to help employers by highlighting some of the key deadlines they may face during the current financial year.

Northern Society of Chartered Accountants president Pam Clarke said: "Keeping on top of regulation is key to running a successful small business, but it can though be time-consuming and even overwhelming for some ow ner-managers.

"Along with the day job, those running small firms are increasingly having to keep a watchful eye out for regulatory deadlines - particularly those with a payroll to adm inister.

"From quarterly closing dates for car allowance forms to the annual P60 deadline, the red tape can be very demanding.

To ease the pressure, small businesses can seek professional help from chartered accountants to guide them through the red tape maze."
