Where there's a Wil there's a way for Legion; CONSETT SUNDAY LG.

AARON Wilkinson was the toast of Craghead Legion when his hat-trick caused shockwaves in the first round of the Jack Grigg Memorial Trophy.

Wilkinson's treble, along with strikes from Stephen Burrows and Michael Hughes, saw the Division Three outfit beat Division One Consett Cricketers Ex-Juniors 5-2.

Another Division One side to fall to lower-ranked opposition was Annfield Plain Cricket Club as visiting Leadgate were onegoal winners - Jonathan Bone on target.

Division Three Ball Alley ousted Division Two Stanley RAFA 4-2 in their derby clash, Tony Rutter scoring twice. Mark Metcalfe's strike was enough to send Division Three side Horse and Groom through as they defeated the higher-ranked Shotley Cricketers 1-0. Division One leaders East Stanley WMC were pushed hard by Division Two Consett Scotch Arms before scraping through 4-3.

Lee Rainbow bagged a brace and Sam Rafferty and Jake Stafford also scored, while Joe Johnson netted twice and Connor Burns once for Scotch.

Consett No1 WMC, struggling at the foot of Division One, saw off Division Three leaders Consett The Barn 4-3, Lee Clarke notching two and John and Andrew Westgarth one each.
