Where in the world? How familiar are you with the atlas? Find out with our test.

Byline: RHIAN LUBIN

IT IS time to dust off that atlas as a shocking 52 per cent of us think there are only two oceans - the Atlantic and Pacific, according to a survey.

Only eight per cent know there are in fact five, including the Indian, Southern and Arctic, the study found.

When quizzed about the seas surrounding the UK, 36 per cent did not know the North Sea from the English Channel and 20 per cent thought the Mediterranean was the largest of our oceans.

And 34 per cent of respondents to boat rental company www.samboat.com did not know the Atlantic bordered the UK.

With this dire geographical knowledge, perhaps it is time half of us retook our geography exams.
