Where do Passionate People go to indulge their passion? ADVERTISEMENT FEATURE.

WHO would guess that hidden away in a converted cow shed between Seaton Burn and Stannington is the place where Passionate People come to find out about the Passionate Places, history and heritage featured in the TV campaigns? On a typical day at Northern Heritage Services Limited on Blagdon Estate, you'll find Passionate People browsing shelves packed with every conceivable book, DVD, guide and gift item with a local interest theme.

Here, you'll find the couple, passionate about border history keen to know every detail about reivers, castles, pele towers, bastles and battles fought long ago.

A man looks for a book with fading photos, a gift to remind his dear mother of the village of her childhood.

Behind them will be a retired couple who, after studying the racks of DVDs, have yet to decide between The Way We Were, Explore the Northumberland Coast Path or Discover the North Pennines. The Rambler's group member is looking for a book to inspire his walking group's next outing.

Clutching a copy of an illustrated book on Pre-historic Rock Carvings in one hand and Pub walks in the other is a lady who appears to be torn between a passionate interest in history and drinking. Next to her is the manager of a garden centre looking for books and DVDs for the Christmas gift market. Sipping a coffee is a buyer from the tourist information shops seeking to top up the visitor centre shelves with maps, guides, tea towels, table mats and mugs for the passionate visitor who is looking for a gift, guide or souvenir from the North East.

Chris Hartnell Northern Heritage's owner and managing director said: "We're a second generation family business and it's taken us over 20 years to build our product range and our customer base. Our customers are passionate about the North East whether they are the purchaser of a single gift, guide or souvenir to the bulk purchaser from visitor centres, tourist information centres, museums and galleries, garden centres, tea shops and heritage centres. Not every retail outlet has the space to display our complete range so customers are welcome to come to our shop on Blagdon Estate for those special gifts for special occasions.
