Where are those bugs?

A gold beetle was the highlight of the mini-beast hunt for seven-year-old Thomas Cassidy.

"We found a gold beetle and also a big spider and some big worms," says Thomas, from Netherfields, Middlesbrough.

"I enjoyed all of it."

Mum Jacqueline says: "We have been on the course for four weeks now and we hand in our files when the kids go back to school to see how we've done.

"We have done things like looking for bugs and making tile mosaics. It's been really good.

"I've been able to meet other mams as well."

Jacqueline and Thomas have also started growing some runner beans and red lettuce, given to them by Elizabeth James as part of the Natural Play course.

"We already did the garden together," says Jacqueline.

"Thomas always helps me cut the grass and we grew some sunflowers together.

"Once the runner beans and red lettuce have got a bit bigger then we'll put them out in the garden too."
