When appearances can be deceptive.
Byline: ELIM PEUGEOT
LAUNCHED in Europe in June 2005, the Peugeot 107 enjoyed immediate success which has never waned.
Despite a bumpy ride for European car sales over the past two years, production of the Peugeot 107 has remained on an upward trend. Now Peugeot has sold over half a million of these great little cars.
Compact, stylish, practical and efficient, the Peugeot 107 is sold in almost 60 countries worldwide.
Its popularity, along with its economical three-cylinder petrol engine, has helped Peugeot take a lead in low-CO2 motoring and now, with the introduction of a new Euro 5 engine across the range, emitting just 103 g/km of CO2, it is even more efficient.
Perhaps surprisingly for such a small car, the five-door version out-sells the three-door model, underlining the Peugeot 107's excellent packaging, which makes the most of its interior space and belies its tiny wheelbase to provide a vehicle capable of easily transporting four people in comfort.
The engine punches out 67bhp and, in such a small, light car, performance is going to be better than fair. It also averages 60 mpg and comes with group 1 insurance, so it is an excellent second, city or starter car.
It feels nippy and responsive through the gears. The thrum of the engine adds tremendously to its appeal.
The ride is decent and you get power steering. Tidy handling and light controls make it very easy to drive and equipment includes central locking and electric windows.
The Peugeot 107 seems so much more spacious on the inside
