The Uplift Wheelchair Seat Assist [TM] a product of Uplift
Technologies, Inc., is a self-powered, lifting drop-seat base that helps
to gently seat and raise a resident from a wheelchair. The lifting
action is provided by a hydropneumatic piston that is activated when the
safety latch is released and the user's weight is shifted forward.
It is adjustable for weights from 80 to 350 Ibs, depending on the model.
The Uplift Wheelchair Seat Assist automatically locks in position
when the user sits. To get up, the user must release the latch cord,
shift his weight forward and begin to stand. This device allows for
easier transfers and eliminates stress and strain on the caregiver that
might occur while lifting or transferring.
