What a joker; Penny's people: Welshdiary.

WHEN news of the attacks on the World Trade Centre hit the headlines, tabloids and broadsheets alike rushed to find military and Middle East experts to comment on the situation. So imagine our surprise when one local newspaper decided to consult a clown.

In The Cambrian News , professional entertainer Richard Viner, from Garndolbenmaen, claimed America deserved its shockwave and the world should "step back and think why all this has happened." He was the weekly paper's oracle on all things serious and political.

What next? Gerald Ratner to become Labour's new spin doctor, or Prince Philip to act as a diplomat in Afghanistan?
