What's the best paint for a stucco patch?

According to Steve Revnew at Sherwin-Williams, dealing with patched stucco requires a two-step process. "Since the patch is new stucco, before you paint, prime the patch with a masonry primer designed with specific resistance to high pH and efflorescence." Revnew says these primers typically have elastomeric properties that provide for expansion and contraction throughout the life of the stucco. "If you don't do this, you risk paint failure."
