Western hires vice provost for faculty relations.

Rhonda Allen has been named vice provost for faculty relations at Western Washington University. Allen was selected following a nationwide search and began her new duties Oct. 1. Allen was assistant dean for faculty development and associate professor at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey before coming to WWU.

The vice provost position at WWU is a newly established position. Allen will work with the WWU provost to provide vision and leadership with regard to faculty issues, will provide oversight for personnel processes related to faculty, will advise the provost on retention, tenure and the promotion process, and will monitor compliance with collective bargaining with faculty.

Allen received a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Southern California, a master's degree in public administration from Californian State University Fullerton and a doctorate in public administration and policy from the Nelson A. Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy at the University of Albany, State University of New York.
