WestJet Airlines Adds New Service.

CALGARY, Alberta--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 28, 1999--WestJet Airlines, western Canada's low fare airline, today announced that it would be adding service to two new markets effective March 11, 1999 -- Thunder Bay and Prince George.

Once the new service to Thunder Bay is launched, WestJet will be the only airline operating non-stop service between Calgary and Thunder Bay, with convenient connecting service available to Victoria, Vancouver, Abbotsford/Fraser Valley, Kelowna, Prince George, Saskatoon, Regina and Edmonton.

The new Prince George service will provide two flights a day, with unique non-stop flights to Victoria and Calgary. The Calgary service will provide connections to Edmonton, Winnipeg, Abbotsford/Fraser Valley, Vancouver and Thunder Bay.

"These two new routes add tremendous strength to our western network," said Clive Beddoe, WestJet Airlines President & C.E.O. "Thunder Bay and Prince George residents will have improved access to major business and tourism centers in the west, as well as an opportunity to visit family and friends that were previously inaccessible due to the high cost of air travel and distance. Through markets such as these, and the others that we serve, WestJet will continue to develop niche markets and ensure that there are alternative choices to expensive airfares or long road trips."

To celebrate the launch of these two new destinations, WestJet is offering an introductory fare of only $119 one-way between Thunder Bay and Calgary, $69 one-way between Prince George and Victoria and $69 one-way between Prince George and Calgary. These fares are available for booking until February 16, 1999 and some restrictions apply. Information and fares for all WestJet flights can be obtained by calling a local travel agent or WestJet directly at 1-800-538-5696.

WestJet Airlines, a western based regional airline, commenced flight operations in February 1996 and currently operates 10 Boeing 737 jet aircraft to 9 cities throughout western Canada -- Victoria, Vancouver, Abbotsford/Fraser Valley, Kelowna, Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Regina and Winnipeg. And effective March 11, 1999, WestJet welcomes 2 more cities to the WestJet network -- Prince George and Thunder Bay.
