Wescast gains contracts to produce exhaust manifolds for future General Motors, Ford projects.
Beginning in the 2007 model year, Wescast will supply GM with fully machined V6 exhaust manifolds for several vehicles, including the Saturn Aura. Wescast will continue to work closely with GM to ensure it supports the OEM in the successful launch of its new powertrains and vehicles.
"We are very pleased to have been awarded these two new programs with General Motors," said Wescast Industries Inc. Chairman and CEO Ed Frackowiak. "Our ability to win new exhaust manifold contracts with a major North American OEM highlights the value of our renewed powertrain-focused business strategy."
Wescast also was awarded another automotive contract from Ford to supply machined exhaust manifolds for the Ford 2.0L 14 and the 2.3L 14 engine programs. These engines will be used in several future models in North America.
Production of the Ford products will begin in 2006 at Wescast's casting and machining facilities in Wingham, Ontario, Canada.
"This new contract strengthens our long relationship with the Ford Motor Co. and expands our production plans for the 2006 model year," said Frackowiak. "Wescast's investments over the past several years in manufacturing, design, sales and engineering have increased the value proposition for our customers."
