Wenger ready for 'backlash' if Arsenal doesn't perform.

London, Aug 17 ( ANI ): Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has said that he is ready to face a backlash from the club's fans if they make a bad start to their Premier League campaign against Aston Villa, and denied that the club was in a crisis.

According to the Mirror, after starting the summer promising big deals, the manager admits that his squad is a bit light, as they have yet to spend a penny in the transfer market.

The report said that with Mikel Arteta out injured for up to eight weeks, it can seem difficult to tot up enough players to fill the bench.

Wenger has overseen a huge clear out this summer, including the departures of Marouane Chamakh, Andrey Arshavin and Sebastien Squillaci, but has made just one signing in French youngster Yaya Sanogo who arrived as a free agent, the report added. ( ANI )
