Welsh rock band shoot to top again.

WELSH heavy metal band Bullet For My Valentine scored a double - including being named best British band - at the Kerrang! Awards last night.

The Bridgend musicians picked up the gong for the third year running.

They were also named best live band, following a headline appearance at this year's Download Festival.

Fellow Welsh rockers Lostprophets, from Pontypridd, were honoured with the "classic songwriter" award. They are best known for top 10 hits Last Train Home and Rooftops, and number one album Liberation Transmission. More than six million rock and metal fans voted for their favourites at Kerrang!

magazine's 17th annual awards ceremony, held in London.

Acting heart-throb turned singer Jared Leto's band 30 Seconds To Mars pipped Paramore to be named best international band. The group are touring in Australia.

But Paramore took the best album trophy for Brand New Eyes.

Kerrang! editor Nichola Browne said: "It's brilliant to see that our British rock and metal scene is so highly regarded and supported." Scottish favourites Biffy Clyro, who are nominated for this year's Barclaycard Mercury Prize, won best video for the track The Captain, which sees the band captured on a boat out on the high seas.

Surrey's You Me At Six were voted best single winners for Liquid Confidence, while London metal band Rise to Remain were best British newcomers.

Best international newcomer went to Californians Trash Talk.

Several special awards were presented. Motley Crue received the Kerrang! hall of fame trophy.

Two posthumous awards were given out. The Kerrang!

icon award went to Ronnie James Dio, who died in May. Slipknot bassist and songwriter Paul Gray, who also died in May, was honoured with the Kerrang! services to metal award.
