Welsh farmers milk London opportunity.

WELSH dairy co-operative Calon Wen will be at the Real Food Festival in London for the first time. The co-op's farmers plus Moola the cow will be giving milking and butter-making demos at the four-day event at Earl's Court, from May 7. Richard Tomlinson, Calon Wen farmer, said: "Research shows that many children actually have no idea where milk comes from so events such as this are really important.

Calon Wen's award-winning Extra Mature and Creamy Cheddar will also be offered to show visitors.

Calon Wen is owned by over 20 farming families from across Wales.

Details at THIS week is National Honey Week, and the Honey Association is urging fans of the product to stage their own event.

To help it's produced a toolkit to help, packed with handy hints and tips, easy and nutritious recipes, a template poster and decorations.

More at ORGANIC Centre Wales has a new technical guide to poultry production for meat, funded through the Farming Connect Organic Development Programme.

It covers production and processing, including feeding, breeds, brooding, growing the birds, range management, slaughtering and processing, gross margins and other financial data.

It is written by Steve Merritt from the Welsh Poultry Centre, Rebecca Kelly of the Organic Research Centre Elm Farm, and Simon Moakes, Institute of Biological, Environmental and Rural Sciences.
