Welcome to Wales - USA team arrives for greatest golf show on earth; WALES WILL PUT ON 'WONDERFUL SHOW'.

THE US Ryder Cup team yesterday touched down in Wales ready for the biggest sporting spectacle ever to be held here.

American captain Corey Pavin immediately paid tribute to his hosts, saying he was certainWales was about to put on a "wonderful show".

The team's jumbo jet touched down at Cardiff International Airport at 11am with the players posing with their wives and partners on the steps before being taken to Newport's Celtic Manor Resort - the venue for the world's third-biggest sports event - in a fleet of BMWs.

"It's great to be in Wales," said Pavin.

"Obviously all of Europe is being represented here and it's nice to see The Ryder Cup move around from place to place.

"We are excited for a great week. I'm sure Wales will put on a wonderful show. Every time we have been here, the hospitality has been fantastic and I expect the same this week."
