FAMILY FOR SALE

"If a town could be sold online, then how much could you get for a family?" writer Steve Young asked.

After consulting with wife Diana, and their two children Kelly and Casey, Young posted the advert on eBay and got more than 10,000 hits in minutes. The minimum bid was five million dollars (pounds 3.1m).

But when eBay operators became aware of the auction they pulled the advert, saying it is against company policy to sell human beings.

BUS CLEAN-UP

Proposed new rules would also ban spitting, defecating, smoking, skateboarding and flatulence on the vehicles. The regulations would ban anyone who "emanates a grossly repulsive odour that is unavoidable by other Bend Extended Area Transit customers".
