Weather forecast: Stormy, rainy conditions to prevail.

RAMALLAH, Friday, February 7, 2020 (WAFA) -- A polar cold front in set to affect the region on Friday, causing temperatures to plummet and paving the way to stormy and cold to very cold conditions, said the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).

Rainfall is expected in the morning hours, and will intensify towards the night and be accompanied with thunderstorms and occasional hail. Strong southwesterly to westerly wind will prevail with occasional gusts reaching 70 km/h. Sea waves are high.

Temperature in Jerusalem and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 10AC and a low of 5AC and in Ramallah and Hebron, a high of 9AC and a low of 4AC. In Jericho, the Dead Sea and the Jordan Valley, temperature is expected to reach a high of 19AC and a low of 10AC, while it is expected to reach a high of 16AC and a low of 10AC in Gaza and the coastal areas.

Saturday's temperature is set to further drop with stormy and very cold conditions. Torrential rainfall is still expected on all districts, along with thunderstorms and occasional hail, with the rainfall subsiding towards the evening and night hours. Gusty wind is expected to blow and reach 80 km/h.

A colder front is expected to affect the region on Sunday, causing temperatures to plummet and reach 9AC below the seasonal average. Very cold and rainy conditions will continue to prevail. Snow flurries are expected on high mountains, with the chance of snowfall weakening towards the evening and night. Temperature is set to drop below 0AC on some mountains in nighttime, forming frost.

Monday's temperature is set to remain steady with partly cloudy and very cold conditions. Frost formation is expected in the early morning and night hours, especially in mountainous districts.

PMD warns people against flood formation in flood-prone areas, gusty winds, slippery roads, low visibility and frost formation starting from Sunday evening through Tuesday.
