Weakest Link Now Tops 25m.
THE Weakest Link has topped the TV ratings in America with 25 million viewers.
Anne Robinson's third show on Wednesday was the most watched programme on any US network that night.
Production chiefs want it to go head-to-head with America's hit version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?
The move, revealed last night by NBC network chiefs, is already being dubbed "the shoot out at The TV Corral".
They say it will not only prove which is the top US show, but it will also force Millionaire presenter Regis Philbin to eat his words. He predicted The Weakest Link would flop.
Regis - known for his nice-guy image said: "She chews them out and sends them away. That's not my way. I want my people to win."
NBC programming boss Jeff Zucker believes Anne is ready for a direct clash.
An NBC executive said: "Philbin and Who Wants To Be A Millioniare? are yesterday's news.
"They're stunned by Anne's success. We already know she can overtake them in the ratings - and we're going to make that smug old guy Philbin eat his words."
