We wish you a scary Christmas.

SO... what comes into your head when you think of Christmas? A dog with a gun, perhaps? Three ned cats with clubs? Children being attacked by a giant wasp? Course not. You're not weirdos, after all.

The Victorians were, though. The evidence is there for all to see in these frankly disturbing cards they chose to send each other at the most joyful time of the year.

The bizarre designs have become a hit on the internet but no one can explain what on earth they have to do with Christmas.

Admittedly, there is one winter scene - it shows a skater being eaten by a bear. And there's a Christmas robin too. It's dead.
