THE mop-haired one is back and this time he's banging on about seasonal food (with Gordon Ramsay recently saying restaurants should be fined for serving non seasonal food, it's like there's a conspiracy going on).

So while Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall does magical things to asparagus and artichokes at River Cottage HQ, he also helps five Bristol families turn scrubland into an allotment so they can grow their own food. For fans of his brilliant Chicken Run series, there's an update on the campaign, while worshippers of Delia Smith will be interested to see his taste challenge - he puts his family shepherd's pie recipe up against her cheat's pie, which has canned meat and frozen mash.

In a bizarre TV experiment he takes on a vegetarian butcher's apprentice, and he also plays midwife to his sheep. But before you go "ahhhh" at the cute little lamb, Hugh reminds us that in a year's time the fluffy critter will be on its way to the butcher.
