We love telly: WE LOVE DRAMA - THE TUDORS BBC2, 9pm.

Byline: by JANE SIMON

IT'S Christmas but there are prophecies of doom all over Henry's court.

Anne Boleyn, who was last week heard to moan that you can't have three people in a marriage, finds a playing card representing herself with its head cut off, and as Thomas More (Jeremy Northam) hands in his resignation he warns his daughter to brace herself for the possibility of him becoming a martyr to the cause.

For all the machinations and politics as he prepares to split from Rome, Henry (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) is still a blithely trusting soul and banishes his friend the Duke of Suffolk for daring to suggest that Anne - promoted tonight to Marquess of Pembroke shire with a trunk full of jewels thrown in as a bonus - was a bit of a goer before she hooked him.

Her old mate the King of France promises to keep her little secret.

TRUSTWORTHY Henry and Anne
