(TAP)- President of the Tunisian Confederation of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts (UTICA) Samir Majoul, voiced on Saturday his wish to adopt, very soon, the draft horizontal law on the mobilisation of investment and the improvement of the business climate, currently submitted to the House of Peoples' Representatives (HPR). According to him, this law will certainly improve the business climate and attract more investors to Tunisia.
Speaking on the sidelines of the commemoration of the 19th anniversary of the death of Leader Habib Bourguiba in Monastir, Majoul stressed, in a statement to TAP, that Tunisia is experiencing an economic recovery, and that we expect positive economic indicators to improve during the month of June, compared to the same period last year.
However, he warned against the possibility that this recovery could be hampered by the elections scheduled for late 2019.
"The employers' organisation will do everything in its power to ensure that the economy is not affected", he argued before adding that it is essential to compensate for the recent increase in hydrocarbons.
In the same context, he reiterated UTICA's demand to renounce this increase and to avoid raising hydrocarbon prices again by the end of the current year.
Majoul also criticised the deputies who, according to him, adopted the Finance Act without really knowing its content. "It is up to the MP to consult and understand the law and not the owner of individual or collective taxis"
For his part, UGTT Deputy Secretary General Bouali Mbarki said in a statement to the press that the rise in hydrocarbon prices will have negative repercussions on all economic sectors, as well as on employees and all citizens.
