We can outshine Diamonds; DUMBARTON v AIRDRIE.

Airdrie's championship dream might be over.

But at Boghead today Doddie's Diamonds will be out to continue their love affair with the Scottish Cup.

Dumbarton boss Jim Fallon last night lashed praise on Airdrie's marvellous cup exploits.

But while full of admiration for the record of their opponents today, the Sons manager was also planning a Diamonds downfall.

He said: "Airdrie's pedigree in the cup is second to none.

"To be in two finals in recent years is a phenomenal achievement and they'll be looking for another run in the competition.

"Airdrie have already beaten Dumbarton three times this season so we are well aware of the size of the job ahead of us."

Then he added: "Having said that, it's the cup and I'm reasonably optimistic about our chances."

Dumbarton will be without Alan Granger and Jim Marsland.

It has been a hugely disappointing league campaign for Airdrie.

But today they are hoping that the magic of the cup will give the club the lift they need.

Manager Alex MacDonald yesterday took his troops to a hotel hideaway where the players went through a gruelling training session - in the snow!

MacDonald explained: "We're just getting used to the winter conditions."
