We Dat expands with third restaurant in New Orleans area.

Byline: CityBusiness staff reports

Chicken and seafood restaurant We Dat is adding a third location in the New Orleans area.

We Dat will open in Marrero at 4905 Westbank Expressway and will be the largest of the restaurant's locations, a news release said.

Owner and head chef Greg Tillery started We Dat six years ago after working in the corporate industry for more than five years. Tillery served second line paraders from a food truck for a few years before opening his first restaurant on Canal Street in 2016. Another location opened in Gentilly in 2017. We Dat employs 25 workers across the restaurants.

Its food has been featured at the Essence Festival and The National Fried Chicken Festival, and Tillery plans a food truck tour across the nation in the coming weeks.

He said he is "humbled by the continuous positive feedback and support we receive from the community."

"There is no greater way for me to honor the legacy of the great Martin Luther King Jr. than to dedicate our new location to the Historically Black Colleges and Universities that educated and molded Dr. King's legacy," he added.
