We've only been together a week and I hate you already; MURDER JURY TOLD OF NEWLYWEDS' FLOWERS ROW.
A BRIDE murdered her groom in a blazing row over flowers just a week after their honeymoon, a jury heard yesterday
College lecturer Catherine Osliffe, 34, allegedly screamed: " We have only been together for a week and I hate you already." Later, she stabbed husband Roger, 35, in the chest with a kitchen knife, Preston crown court heard.
The newlyweds, whose relationship was described as "stormy and volatile", had returned from a night of heavy drinking last June, the court was told.
They rowed over a bouquet because Mr Osliffe wouldn't accept they were from his mother-in-law. The fencing contractor stayed downstairs when his wife went to bed, but woke her by emptying the flowers and water on her.
The jury heard neighbours were woken at 5am by her screaming: "You don't know how much these flowers mean to me. We have only been together for a week and I hate you already."
Michael Shorrock QC, prosecuting, said Mrs Osliffe went downstairs to re-arrange the bouquet before returning to the bedroom to stab her husband once, which resulted in his death.
She called the emergency services and said he had stabbed himself. But he told them: "Cath's done it."
Osliffe, from Whalley, near Clitheroe, denies murder. The trial continues.
ACCUSED: Osliffe yesterday and, left, husband Roger
