We're not in hunt for Thomas.

Byline: Philip Tallentire

Gareth Southgate today dismissed reports that he wants to sign Thomas Gravesen from Real Madrid

The 30-year-old midfielder has been linked with both Boro and Newcastle but Southgate has been quick to distance his club from the story.

He said: "Thomas is a player we greatly admire but we are already well off in that area of the field and we're looking to strengthen in other positions."

Real are keen to off-load the powerful Dane, who seems determined not to leave the Spanish club without a fight after coming to blows with his team-mate Robinho.

He had to be separated from Robinho after a tussle in a training match in Austria which started when Gravesen made a late tackle.
