Ways to grant teachers' salary increase studied.

Malaca?ang has promised to work with Congress to address the demand of public school teachers for a round of salary increase.

Presidential Communications Operations Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. assured that the government would continue to find ways to promote the welfare of the teachers despite the limited budget.

"Proposed increase in compensation for public sector workers including public school teachers would require an act of Congress. The Executive and Legislative branches are working together in addressing this vital matter," Coloma said.

"Despite budgetary constraints, government continues to address the need to promote the welfare and well-being of public school teachers and public sector workers," he added.

Coloma made the remarks before a group of public school teachers staged a protest action outside Congress to demand higher salary.
