Product performance fuels surge of new Last Mile Solution(R)

deployments; establishes product as world leader in

license-exempt non-line-of-sight broadband systems

WaveRider Communications, Inc. (OTCBB:WAVC), a leading global provider of fixed wireless Internet access products, today announced its non-line-of-sight (NLOS) Last Mile Solution(R) products have been deployed by service providers in 43 states in the U.S., making wireless broadband available to hundreds of thousands of potential business and residential subscribers.

"With the current number and size of WaveRider product deployments, and the proven and unparalleled performance of our NLOS products, we believe our Last Mile Solution(R) (LMS) product is the world leader in non-line-of-sight fixed wireless Internet technologies for the license-exempt spectrum," said Charles Brown, Executive Vice President, WaveRider Communications, Inc.

"Our customers are now serving thousands of subscribers using WaveRider's non-line-of-sight wireless systems. Many subscribers have switched from wired services to our customers' new local wireless broadband service," said Brown. "The rate of subscriber growth is enabling our customers to meet their business targets, generate a fast return on their investments, and to compete against wired Internet access carriers in their regions."

Infobahn Outfitters of Macomb, Illinois, is one of the companies that introduced wireless broadband using WaveRider non-line-of-sight LMS products in 2002 and is now experiencing rapid network growth. The company introduced its wireless service in November, 2002, and has already doubled its forecasted number of subscribers for its first phase of deployment.

"WaveRider's non-line-of-sight system is the first product for the license-exempt spectrum that has been proven to deliver the features and performance we need. The technology is performing well, our customers are thrilled, and we have expanded our network faster than we had anticipated," said Jeff Calhoun, Chief Technology Officer, Infobahn Outfitters.

Setting the standard for NLOS technology

WaveRider's Last Mile Solution(R) is the world's first wireless broadband product to deliver true non-line-of-sight Internet connections in the license-exempt spectrum. WaveRider's LMS is distinguished in the non-line-of-sight category by its user-installed indoor antenna, which enables broadband connections through buildings, tree canopies and other line-of-sight barriers.

"WaveRider's LMS is the first NLOS product for the 900 MHz spectrum to be chosen for city and county-wide deployments because it is the only system of its kind that can accommodate up to 900 subscribers on a single base station, and deliver the performance required by these large operators," said Brown. "We believe our LMS product has set the standard for NLOS technologies today."

Deployments gaining speed

"The number and size of deployments of WaveRider Last Mile Solution(R) products has increased steadily throughout 2002," said Brown. "With the financing options that are now becoming available, and the growing subscriber confidence in broadband wireless systems, our customers are able to deploy larger systems at an even faster pace than our customers have in the past."

"In addition, many of our customers are reporting that WaveRider's NLOS systems are delivering faster connection speeds and operating over greater distances than expected," added Brown. "These performance levels are enabling our customers to reach more subscribers and to deliver the highest level of service possible via NLOS wireless technologies."

WaveRider's Last Mile Solution(R) non-line-of-sight high-speed fixed wireless products have been installed and deployed by service providers, municipal governments and utility companies as an alternative to traditional wireline Internet systems. The systems consist of Communications Access Points (base stations) and wireless end user modems (EUMs) with antennas installed at the subscriber's premises. WaveRider's indoor antenna can be installed by the subscriber for a non-line-of-sight wireless connection, or an outdoor antenna can be installed for longer range and line-of-sight applications.
