Wattoo for joint efforts to fight poverty.

By ISLAMABAD, November 26, 2010 (Frontier Star): Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Mian Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo on Friday said poverty, inflation and unemployment were the common enemies of the country and urged joint efforts to face these challenges. In a statement issued here, he said the dream of prosperity could not be translated into reality without eradication of illiteracy and poverty.It is the utmost responsibility of the government to provide basic necessities of life to the people, eradicate poverty, promote education, control inflation and unemployment besides eradicating terrorism from its roots, he said. Wattoo said the PPP-led coalition government was making utmost efforts to resolve these issues on priority basis. He said the government believes in provincial autonomy and the 18th amendment was the manifestation of its policy, adding that it was also building new dams. The minister said the government believed in politics of reconciliation and all decisions were made in consultation with all political parties.
