Watson out early; IN BRIEF.

TENNIS: Heather Watson's poor recent form continued as she crashed to a three-set defeat against Japan's Ayumi Morita in the first round of the Miami Masters.

The British number one followed up her openinground exit in Indian Wells with another early failure despite taking the first set.

Morita broke twice to Watson's one to edge a close second set before the same pattern was repeated in the third, the Japanese winning 1-6 7-5 6-4 to set up a meeting with Yanina Wickmayer of Belgium.

Watson has yet to win a match since last month climbing to a career-high 39 in the world rankings.
