FRAIZER Campbell has been in touch to let Duncan Watmore know he can recover from cruciate ligament damage again - and the former Sunderland striker has an England cap to prove it.
Watmore suffered his second cruciate injury in less than 12 months at home to Millwall in November. Campbell also had the injury - which used to routinely end football careers - twice at the Stadium of Light and recovered sufficiently to make his international debut against the Netherlands in February 2012. It has lifted a player doing his level best to keep his latest setback in perspective.
"He got in touch with me out of nowhere, which was really nice of him," Watmore told his club's official website. "He rang me up and gave me the confidence that I can come back and have a good career and carry on. He made his England debut after two cruciate injuries. He's a really nice guy and it was completely out of the blue which was really great of him."
