Watershed race tomorrow.

The Blackstone River Watershed Association will hold the 31st annual Canoe/Kayak Race tomorrow from South Grafton to Uxbridge. This year, there is a single 12-mile event for all classes of racers. The race will start at 11 a.m.

The start will be off Route 122A, at 53 Main St., South Grafton, north of the Blackstone River bridge and across from the old Fisherville Mill site. The race will finish at River Bend Farm, Oak Street, Uxbridge. Trophies will be awarded and a celebration, including entertainment and refreshments, will be held at the farm. The association will hold a raffle with first prize being a Great Canadian canoe.

Registration will be held at the starting line between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m.

Entrants must be 15 years old or older, unless paddling with a parent or guardian, in which case they may be as young as 10.

All entrants must provide their own equipment and wear a U.S. Coast Guard-approved personal flotation device while on the river. Anyone not wearing such a device will be disqualified.

Racers must remain on the natural course of the river.

Canal sections are off limits, with the exception of the quarter-mile section along the west bank of Rice City Pond in Uxbridge and the one-mile section which leads to the finish. The waterfall under Hartford Avenue in Uxbridge is off limits to all racers, who must enter under the stone arch bridge at the right of the river. The wide spillway beyond may be run or portaged. No alcohol is permitted at any time.
