Water Nanofluid /Carbon Nanotube Produced in Optimized Conditions.
Solid-liquid suspensions, with particles in micrometer scale, corrode the equipment, clog the pipes, and increase the pressure drop during the heat transfer procedure. However, using nanofluids do not cause the said problems.Majid Emami Meibodi and his colleagues from Tarbiat Modarres University in Tehran and Research Institute of Petroleum Industry (RIPI) have carried out the research on the optimized conditions for producing and using water nanofluid / carbon nanotube."The stability of nanofluids and their thermal conductivity are two important factors in the quality of nanofluids. Compared to the previous researches, the effect of more parameters on the stability and thermal conductivity of water nanofluid / carbon nanotube have been studied simultaneously in this research. The tests had been designed according to a standard method. Finally, the optimized condition of production and application of nanofluids was suggested," Emami said.The nanofluids used in this research were synthesized through a two-stage method. First, the nanoparticles were synthesized, and then they were dispersed within the base fluid."In order to study the behavior of heat transfer in fluids, it is necessary to measure some properties such as thermal conductivity, viscosity, density, and thermal capacity of the fluid, in addition to synthesize various nanofluids," Emami said"Moreover, it is necessary to determine different heat transfer factors including convectional heat transfer factor in constant temperature of the tube or the constant thermal flux. Our group took all the said steps, and the results have been published in various papers," he concluded.
