Watchdogs warn on certificates from net.

Byline: By Phillip Nifield South Wales Echo

Trading standards watchdogs in Cardiff are warning against buying expensive copies of birth, death and marriage certificates on the internet. They say that a number of websites are offering copies of certificates with prices ranging from pounds 19 to pounds 60 while the council's registration service charges just pounds 7.

Dave Holland, head of consumer protection at the council said: 'There is no reason why people should be paying extra for this service.Obtaining a copy of a birth, marriage or death certificate is relatively straightforward going through your local authority.'
