Watch the birdies and join in survey.

GET ready to take part in this year's Big Garden Birdwatch.

You can join in for one hour on either January 29 or 30 by watching for birds in your back garden or in a local park.

If you are aged over 18, visit now so that you can pre-register to make submitting your bird results in January quicker and easier.

You only need to register once even if you want to submit more than one set of results in January.

There will also be a special event in Sutton Park from 11am-3pm tomorrow and Sunday when the RSPB will be getting ready for the UK's biggest bird survey.

Go to the Visitors Centre, Park Road, Sutton Coldfield B74 2YT. Admission free.

Don't forget, there's also an RSPB Reserve with hide at Sandwell Valley - 20 Tanhouse Avenue, Birmingham B43 5AG where the 'star species' can include goosander, lapwing, snipe and whitethroat. Telephone 0121 357 7395 or visit
