WONDER WOMAN Cert 12 ?? ....

Digital Monday, disc October 9 A super-powered supermodel breaks the dour hero mould in this thrilling, colourful and funny box office smash. Glamazon Israeli actress Gal Gadot is kick-ass as the Amazon warrior princess who is hunting an ancient Greek god in the battle ground of the First World War.

There is hope and optimism as the old-fashioned values of sacrifice, courage and duty are dressed up in state-of-the-art CGI. Director Patty Jenkins' fabulous mix of epic fantasy, wartime romance and screwball comedy was so successful that she's signed up for the sequel. I can't wait.

BAYWATCH Cert 15 ..

Digital today, disc Monday Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron star as buff and bromantic crime-solving lifeguards, but they struggle to save this pumped-up big-screen reboot of the 1990s TV show.

Taking PS134million at the global box office would have been a decent result if the film hadn't cost PS45m, which is too expensive for a comedy.

If nothing else, it suggests gross-out gags are a poor substitute for a smart script. Though sadly wasted, co-stars Alexandra Daddario, Kelly Rohrbach and Ilfenesh Hadera suggest they're more than a match for the boys.

KING ARTHUR: LEGEND OF THE SWORD Cert 12 ?? ..

Digital and disc Monday Director Guy Ritchie imagines King Arthur as a cockney hard case in this humdrum fantasy adventure. Full of spectacular design, magical beasts and battles, it was aimed to appeal to fans of TV's Games of Thrones - but without all the fun nudity and sex. Charlie Hunnam displays a remarkable lack of charisma, though he does magically pull a sword from the stone. His second trick was to turn Warners Bros budget of PS130million into PS106m at the box office.
