Wassom's goalkeeping stifles Tualatin girls.
TUALATIN - Kelsy Provo scored an unassisted goal in the eighth minute and sophomore Ashley Foster scored on a rebound in the 34th minute as Sheldon opened its girls soccer season with a 2-0 win over Tualatin on Tuesday.
The Irish are the defending Class 4A state champions.
Goalkeeper Jenn Wassom got the shutout with seven saves as the Irish outshot Tualatin 14-9.

Thurston 7, Crook County 0
SPRINGFIELD - Kayla Stewart scored three goals and fellow sophomore Kirsten Cardwell added two more to lead the Colts.
Erin Lewis got the shutout in goal. Krista Cline and freshman Molly Brabham scored.
North Eugene 6, North Salem 1
SALEM - Junior Chelsea Irvin tallied three goals and Kara Taylor scored two to lead the Highlanders.
Cassidy Langendoerfer picked up the shutout in goal with seven saves.
Chelsea Bierman added a goal for North Eugene.
Willamette 6, South Albany 0
ALBANY - Ceara Drury had two goals and goalkeeper Andrea Shoop got the shutout to lead the Wolverines, who scored five goals in the second half.
Arvilla Ginger, Brigitte Stager, Adriana Montes and My Lundvall also scored.
West Albany 6, Lebanon 1
ALBANY - The Bulldogs jumped out to a 3-0 lead before Lebanon scored its only goal midway though the second half.
Sophomore Ashley Henry scored the Warriors' goal.
