Wasa plans to start metre-base billing from September this year: MD.

FAISALABAD:The WASA had planned to start

metre-base billing from September this year, said Managing

Director WASA Faqir Muhammad Chaudhary on Thursday.

Addressing a progress review meeting of Wasa master plan,

he said the pilot project had already been launched in

Sarfraz Colony where 43 metres had been installed while

during the next few months remaining 550 metres would also

be installed to start metre-base billing from September

this year. He added that the Wasa had completed many

projects relating to water supply and sewerage.

The MD said that in order to promote prudent use of

potable water a comprehensive awareness campaign would also

be launched in the pilot area.

He appreciated the cooperation of the JAICA to continuously

improve the water supply and sewerage system.

Yarai Sato,a team leader of the JAICA, said that billing

tariff freeze since 2006 must be rationalized with the

current needs to ensure self-sustainability of Wasa in addition to improving its services to consumers.

The meeting was also attended by Director P&D Adnan Nisar,

Deputy Director Technical Rohan Javed, Senior Research Officer

Farhat Adeeba, Deputy Director Asad, Deputy Director Finance

Imran Butt, Deputy Director Farhan Akram, Deputy Director Farhan

Ali and others.
