Warsteiner sales rise 25%.
Warsteiner Brewery of Warstein, Germany, recently announced that the company's 1990 sales jumped 25 percent.
"The expansion into the East German market, the warm European summer and continued international demand for the taste of Warsteiner all worked together to expand sales beyond our most optimistic projections," explained Warsteiner Importers Agency president Diane Hankins Fall.
According to Fall's report, Warsteiner sales increased to 3.2 million barrels in 1990, up from 2.5 million in 1989. Additionally, draft beer sales rose nearly 10 percent due to the increase of on-premise draft accounts to 22,300 establishments. worldwide.
"Income for 1990 increased 26.5 percent, confirming that the exceptional growth did not come from lowering prices, a strategy commonly used by other brewers trying to increase sales," Fall said. "The Warsteiner Brewery is already Germany's technological brewing leader and with completion of the brewery expansion, they will soon have the capacity to brew 4.3 million barrels.
"As Warsteiner Beer becomes the choice of beer connoisseurs around the world," Fall continued, "there is increasing interest in visiting the picturesque Sauerland village of Warstein to see how we make the light, full-bodied German pilsner. During 1990, more than 60,000 people visited the brewery, including an ever-increasing number of Americans. As more people discover the Warsteiner taste, pilgrimages to Warstein will become a part any visit to Germany."
