WIGAN Warriors forward John Bateman has taken to social media to address rumours that he is seeking a return to the NRL, stressing his complete commitment to the Super League club.
Reports in Australia had suggested that Bateman was looking to sign for an NRL club once again to support his partner, who was reportedly homesick and keen to return home.
But the England international has posted a message on Instagram knocking back that speculation, saying that he and his partner are happy at Wigan - while also laughing off talk that they are now married after one report claimed Bateman wanted to support his 'Australian wife'.
He said: "Just a quick message to address rumours about my future at @wiganwarriorsrl.
"Firstly my GIRLFRIEND, not wife is not a bit homesick and she has in fact been living the best life ever by being on holiday for the last four months. So let me assure you she's not homesick if anything she's absolutely loving England.
"Also I assure I'm 100% committed to being at @wigan and my life back home with my family and friends."
And Bateman's partner, Amy Reilly, said: "I just want to come out and say that none of the above is true. I have never stated publicly nor privately that I am homesick as that is not the case.
"I love John and I love our live in England. I have no desire to move home at this time."
