Warning as 70mph winds blow into area.

FORECASTERS are warning of winds of up to 70mph across South Wales today.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for the whole of the country.

The worst of the weather will be mainly on the coast.

The chief forecaster said: "Gusts of 65 to 70mph are expected along exposed coasts and over high ground such as the mountains of Wales. Gusts of 50mph are likely more widely. Winds will gradually ease from the west during the night... Outbreaks of rain, some of it heavy, will accompany the strong winds and will add to the difficult driving conditions."

The wind warning is in place until 7am tomorrow.

The chief forecaster added: "Many places within the warning area will see 25-50mm of rain, with around 100mm possible over higher ground.

However, forecasters say the weather will remain mild before becoming more wintry on the weekend.
