TEA and ham sandwiches were dished up for the army of visitors to the Lowry homeplace yesterday.
And this classic country reception - complete with grandchildren pottering around - was a big winner on a stuffy afternoon in the heart of the Midlands. His down-to-earth parents' warmth was matched only by the sunshine on their back garden as the gathering chatted about everything from bunkers to Brexit.
Leading the way from the front door, dad Brendan said: "They're out the back, come on."
As good guy Shane is lauded for his humble personality, it's very easy to see where it came from.
