Warehouse firm gains new business after accreditation.

Byline: Anastasia Weiner

Lingfield Warehousing, the Darlington-based storage specialists, has secured its first customer since becoming authorised as a Type A bonded warehouse.

D&S Imports, which specialises in importing luxury bathroom equipment, will now store all its stock at the Lingfield Point Business Park facility prior to distribution.

Type A accreditation, which is awarded by HM Customs and Excise, means Lingfield Warehousing, LWL, can hold imported stock from non-EU countries without paying VAT or duty until the items are sold.

Denis Shail, D&S's managing director said: "Using LWL to store our stock will save us time and money.

"Having access to a bonded warehouse means we do not have to pay VAT and duty immediately when containers come in."

Alan Grant said the accreditation added to LWL's services, which includes archive document storage.

D&S Imports, which is currently based at Riverside Industrial Park, in Middlesbrough, will be moving to Primrose Hill Industrial Estate in Stockton, as part of its new storage strategy.
