Want a cwtch? Come TOWALES.
Commissioned by the creators of Mr Men to mark the launch of the newest Little Miss character (Little Miss Hug), the study found that the British stiff upper lip may be a thing of the past.
The average Brit hugs 825 times a year - with Wales being the cuddliest region, hugging around 1,062 times a year.
Professor Geoff Beattie who conducted the research said: "Historically, there has been a preconceived notion that Britain isn't a very touchy-feely nation but the results of this study suggests otherwise.
"It not only reveals that we're a nation of huggers, it also highlights why it's so important to our everyday lives - emotionally, physically and developmentally. Overall those that hug more often have happier lives and better relationships due to the increase in oxytocin levels, a 'bonding' hormone, in our body."
