Hilton Hotel Vienna Plaza
THE WELCOME: As you pull up to the Hilton Hotel Vienna Plaza you'll be dazzled by the glamorous 1920s art deco facade, which continues into the lobby with a sleek brass staircase and monochrome marble floor. Your first taste of Vienna is just a few more steps away as the helpful concierge will offer a basket of delicious Viennese biscuits as they scribble on a map showing you the various must-see attractions.
THE NEIGHBOURHOOD: Just a 25-minute taxi ride from the airport, the hotel is centrally located on the famous Ringstrasse, which is home to Vienna's most important architectural masterpieces including the State Opera, Art History Museum and the Burgtheatre. You'll also be a short stroll into the main shopping district.
THE ROOM: The executive rooms are comfortable and luxurious with a welcome blast of fresh air available with large opening windows leading to a Juliet balcony. Incredibly spacious bathrooms come with fluffy white robes and slippers.
THE FOOD: The hotel's Emilie restaurant offers an enjoyable buffet in the morning before turning into a bustling lunch and dinner destination serving Vienna favourites including a wiener schnitzel and comforting foods like stewed chicken with buttered dumplings.
THE SERVICE: Friendly staff will help you feel at home and ensure you have everything you need for a memorable stay. LOVED: The design of the hotel and the central location.
HATED: The stuffy heat of the hotel. Despite it being December when we stayed, the hotel was so warm that we had the window open most of the time.
VERDICT: Great place to stay for a few days of sightseeing, especially if you are booking ahead for a trip to the Christmas markets. BOTTOM LINE: Rooms from PS135 CHECK IT OUT: www.3hilton.com
